Great Visual Storytelling!

Do you live in the Northwest and also enjoy great visual storytelling? Well, the 13th annual Children’s Film Festival Seattle is finally here! The theme this year is Dream the Future. The festival runs January 25th—February 10th and it features 168 films in 22 languages.  It kicks off with the film, “Treasure” directed by Maria Novaro. It is in Spanish and has English subtitles. In the film, a 7-year-old boy journeys to the Pacific Coast of Mexico with his family for the first time.

Longtime festival director, Elizabeth Shepherd, is quoted in the Seattle Times. Her words are most noteworthy — Shepherd says: “What we stand for is racial equity and diversity, inclusivity, social justice, global awareness and the best of age-appropriate visual storytelling for young people.” The aim, she adds, is“tearing down walls, not building them.”
